- The funeral of a devoted mother who was stabbed to death by her partner in a hotel corridor in Portugal has taken place near her home in West London today.
- Tsar Kaydene SYDNEY,34, from Nottinghill was attacked in Albufeira, in the Algarve, last month allegedly by her partner while they were on holiday.
- Police said they arrested a 34-year-old British national believe to be her partner who is also from West London on suspicion of murder as they continue their investigations into her death.
- Hundreds of mourners gathered for the Mass at the Church Of Our Lady Of the Holy Souls in Ladbroke Grove to pay their respects to the Mother of one who many described as ‘vivacious friendly and caring’.
- She leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter who was present when she was murdered in the hotel in September who is now being cared for by her grandparents in London.
- A family source from Ladbroke Grove said: ” The ceremony went well and was well attended. This is a really sad occasion and the parents are mourning the loss of their daughter in private with family and close friends. They are going to mourn in private and would like people to respect their wishes to mourn in private.”
- Ms Sydney’s partner remains on remand and is expected to make a court appearance soon where he will be processed.
- Another family member who visited the family home to offer support to the grieving parents revealed that Tessa and her partner have been together for a long time and that this killing comes as a shock to everyone.
- She said: ” The police came to the basement flat to inform the parents about their daughter’s death when it took place. They then went over to inform her partner’s parents as well who lives nearby. Upon hearing the news one of his brothers who was present collapsed and fell to the floor.
- According to the family source the child who turned 4 a day after the murder spoke to her granddad and told him that Daddy had stabbed mummy and there was a lot of blood.
” She had a short conversation with her granddad from Portugal. They spoke briefly on the phone.” The cousin said. - A neighbour who asked not to be named said that the victim lived at home for a while. She said ” I used to see the boyfriend on a motorcycle with helmet on. He was a motorcycle rider who used to go to the house to visit her.”
- The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed the 34-year-old woman was a British national, and that it is supporting her family. A spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Portugal and are in contact with the local authorities.”
- Joao Gaspar, chief of Portugal’s National Republican Guard (GNR) said a British man has been taken into custody following a “hotel homicide”.
