American rapper Erica Banks was arrested in Atlanta on Monday after police caught her riding in a stolen car packed with drugs.
Brookhaven officers pulled over the vehicle after spotting a tinted tag cover and a dealer tag that did not sit right. A quick check revealed the car had been reported stolen, setting off a chaotic turn of events.
Police say Banks, 27, and driver Amani Dirton, 25, were ordered out of the car before officers searched it. Inside Banks’s purse, they allegedly found suspected MDMA.
Officers also say they discovered marijuana packaged for distribution tucked inside the vehicle. Banks is now facing two felony charges tied to drug distribution. Dirton is accused of driving a stolen car and carrying drugs of his own.
Banks has been riding a wave of fame since dropping hits like Buss It, but this is not her first run-in with Atlanta area police.
In August, she was arrested at the airport after a stolen gun was found in her designer bag. Both Banks and Dirton were booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
