Amara Antoine
Amara’s writing journey began in her school years, where her early talent for storytelling was evident. She won an Inner London essay competition advocating for women firefighters,
and spent her free time crafting short tales about parties and young love that had her friends waiting eagerly for each new instalment.
Her curiosity and social awareness also emerged early. After writing a private essay titled Who Murdered Colin Roach — a bold reflection on racial justice and policing in 1980s Britain — she lent it to a friend at Clissold Park School, sparking such a reaction that education officials were called in to address the topic at a school assembly. Even then, her words carried power — inspiring dialogue and reflection long before she would go on to write stories that explore love, identity, and legacy through an Afrocentric lens.
Amara’s voice is informed by years of community engagement and storytelling rooted in faith, culture, and social reflection — experiences that continue to shape the emotional honesty of her work. Through her Lovers Rock Romance® imprint, Antoine pays tribute to the pioneers of the Lovers Rock era — from Carroll Thompson to Winston Reedy — while redefining modern Black romance with elegance, nostalgia, and depth. Legacy & Desire is the first in a continuing Lovers Rock Romance® series, followed by Love in the Balance and forthcoming titles exploring new facets of love, identity, and cultural heritage.“I write love stories that remember who we are — because legacy and love are never separate.” — Amara Antoine
